Controlled Residents Parking Scheme in Birgu

During the past few years, the Birgu Local Council faced another emerging problem, parking in Citta Vittoriosa. Currently, the Council is in the process of introducing a residential parking scheme for all the residents of Vittoriosa.

After the Local Council's proposal, the Malta Transport Authority found no objection to start implementing this scheme whereby all the residents of Vittoriosa holding a special permit authorised by the Birgu Local Council can park their vehicle for unlimited time, anywhere in Vittoriosa, however non residents can park for two and a half hours in certain areas of the city. 

The Birgu Local Council found the need for such a scheme to be implemented after various surveys conducted by the Council, whereby it was noted that in Birgu there were not enough parking spaces to cater for the inflow of traffic.
