During the AVEC general assembly held in Tours, France, between the 15th and 18th March 2007, Mr. John Boxall, Mayor of Birgu, unanimously was re-elected Vice President of the AVEC association for the second consecutive year, by the Executive Committee of this association.
The Birgu Local Council is a member of the AVEC association which is made up of 40 cities from around 12 countries from around Europe.
