On Monday 3rd September, 2007, as part of the Birgu Day activities, the Mayor Mr. John Boxall, in the presence of the Director of the Public Libraries of Malta and Dr. Carmelo Abela, Shadow Minister of Educaiton, Youth and Employment, donated various books to the Regional Library of Vittoriosa on behalf of the Birgu Local Council.
For this event, the Birgu Local Council invited all the children who visit the library on regular basis, and after the presentation were given a small book about the City of Birgu, "Signs in Birgu" and were later invited to a small party.
