MedCOAST.net 3meeting in Birgu, Malta

Between the 8th and 10th of May, 2008, the Birgu Local Council hosted the 3rd meeting for the MedCOAST.net project, a project under the Archimed Programme (Interreg IIIB  Community Initiative), in which the Local Council is a partner in.

On Thursday 8th May, the Mayors of the partner cities and delegates were welcomed in the City of Birgu by the In-Guardia re-enactors. The group was then treated to a guided tour around the City of Birgu, where they also had the opportunity to visit the site chosen by the Birgu Local Council, that was chosen to be upgraded and re-embelished through this project.

On Friday 9th May, Dr. Mario DeMarco, Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, officially opened the MedCOAST.net meeting, which was held at Gallerija Couvre Porte at the Council's administrative office. In his speech he welcomed all the participants to the beautiful island of Malta and the magnificient City of Birgu. After a day's work the delegation were then invited to meet H.E. Fra John Critien at his palace in Fort St. Angelo.

The project MedCOAST.net will come to an end in July 2008, where all the partners in this project will meet for the final and last conference which will be held in Agria Greece, the lead partner in this project.
