On Tuesday 8th July, 2008, the British High Commissioner, Mr. Nick Archer, was greeted by the Mayor Mr. JOhn Boxall, Councillor Judith Saliba and the staff of the Birgu Local Council, on His official visit to the Council's administrative offices.
During his meeting with the Mayor, Mr. John Boxall and Councillor Judith Saliba, various matters were discussed regarding how the English Ambassador to Malta could help more the Maritime City of Birgu.
His Excellency Mr. Nick Archer, then presented a gift given by the Commander to the H.M.S Illustrious on the occassion of a town twinning between H.M.S. Illustrious and the 3 Cities.
