For the past years Citta Vittoriosa has commemorated the Birgu Day on the 7th September. Every year the Local Council organizes a week packed with activities so as to commemorate this day.
This year a concelebrated mass was held on Sunday 7th September, 2008 at 9:15am at St. Lawrence Church.
Afterwards, the public were invited to attend the main celebrations and the presentation of the "Gieh Jum il-Birgu" award. This award is given every year to a resident of Vittoriosa who in the past years worked for the good of this magnificient City. This year Gieh Jum il-Birgu was awarded to Monsinjur Pawlu Raggio
