Upgrading and rehabilitation of Birgu’s playing field.

On Thursday 17^th January, 2008, a group from the company Allergan Pharmacy, brought to Malta by World Events of Leeds, U.K. and handled by AGL Alliance Group Ltd of Ta’ Xbiex, were scheduled to do rehabilitation work as community work in the locality of Birgu by painting all the playing equipment of the only playing field in Birgu situated in St.Edward’s Street, near Café Riche. The responsibility of the upkeep of the mentioned playing field was passed to the Birgu Local Council from the Malta Playing Fields Association

Unfortunately, due to bad weather, the group of about 80 persons, could not do the scheduled work, however, Mr. Mario Borg, Director of the AGL – Alliance Group Ltd. Presented a cheque of €2329.27 (Lm 1000) as a donation for the upgrading and upkeep of Birgu’s playing field, as a compensation for the work that had to be done.

The Council assigned its employees to do all the necessary upkeep and maintenance and one can notice the work is currently being done and will be completed in the next couple of weeks.

The Council not only is doing maintenance work at the playing fields, we will also change the seats of the swings to be more modern and in accordance with the EU safety regulations.
